Manuka Honey UMF®
New Zealand Manuka honey is recognised around the globe — not only for its deliciousness, but also for its incredible health benefits. But are all Manuka honeys made equal? Sadly the answer is no, but there is a rating system that can help you purchase the right Manuka honey!
What is UMF® Manuka Honey?
Methylglyoxal (MGO) is one of Manuka honey’s secret ingredients and is the reason why New Zealand Manuka honey is seen as a healthy super food. Although its scientific name may make it sound like it is a man-made creation — methylglyoxal occurs naturally and is found in high-quality UMF® Manuka honey.
UMF® is a grading system that measure the level of methylglyoxal present in honey. The UMF® logo found on selected Manuka honey products (such as Mossop’s UMF® Manuka range) is a quality trademark and a sign of higher-grade honey.
What Makes Mossop’s NZ Honey So Good?
At Mossop’s we pride ourselves on our unique processes and we do not over-filter, over-process, over-heat or over-stir our New Zealand honey.
The desire to ensure our honey is as natural as possible is what makes Mossop’s honey so sought after around the world and our minimal process means that all of our New Zealand honey is classed as raw honey.
